Belle Plaine HS Student – Arresting Career Exploration Experience
Nanci Young, Workplace Learning Connection
It’s no crime to leave school for a day to explore a potential career field. Belle Plaine High School’s Mackinze Urbanek who did just that! Urbanek spent part of a school day at the Cedar Rapids Police Department learning about a career in law enforcement along with 18 other teens from 7 area schools. She spent time with a Crime Scene Investigation officer, the Dispatch Center, the K9 Unit, the Special Response Team, and ended the day learning perp take-down methods in the Training Room. This Belle Plaine HS student is getting a jump start on her future career. You should too! Apply for a Winter/Spring Job Shadow through BP High School’s Mrs. Koch this November.
