Belle Plaine High School Top 50 on 2017 AP Index

Belle Plaine High School Top 50 on 2017 AP Index

For the second straight year, Belle Plaine Jr./Sr. High School has been named among the Top 50 schools on the Iowa AP Index coming in at #50.  In 2016, Belle Plaine was rated #27 which also ranked them #1 amongst the smallest 200 public schools in the state.

The rating is created based on the number of AP students enrolled in AP courses versus the number of students within the senior class.  Currently, Belle Plaine offers Advanced Placement courses in Chemistry, History,  Government, and Computer Science.  This fall there are 34 students at the high school taking AP courses.  That equates to 20% of the student population at the high school.  Students who take Advanced Placement courses have the opportunity to test-out of college courses by scoring well enough on the AP exam, but even those who do not score well enough, gain the experience and value of taking a very challenging, high level course that will better prepare them for post-secondary academic success.  This recognition as a Top 50 school is a testament to the dedication, commitment, and work ethic of our students and staff to perform at a high level and prepare for the academic challenges our students will face in the future.
