Nathan Johnson has been teaching at Belle Plaine beginning in 2014. Under Mr. Johnson’s direction the High School Marching band has received two Division II “Excellent” Ratings, Jazz Band has received one Division II “Excellent” Rating, Concert Choir has received one Division II “Excellent” rating, and the High School Concert Band Received a Division I “Superior” rating at State IHSMA Festival.
While teaching at Belle Plaine Mr. Johnson has had the opportunity to work with many different ensembles. He currently directs High School Concert Band, Marching Band, Pep Band, Jazz Band, Solo and Ensemble, Concert Choir, Men’s Choir, and the Musical. Mr. Johnson directs Concert Band and Concert Choir at the Junior High Level. At the Elementary School Mr. Johnson also Co-teaches the 5th and 6th grade Concert Bands.
Mr. Johnson graduated from the Harlan Community School District in 2009 and then proceeded to attend the University of Northern Iowa. While at UNI Mr. Johnson earned a degree in music education with an emphasis in instrumental education, graduating in May of 2014.
During his free time Mr. Johnson enjoys boating and fishing with his wife Farren as well as building saxophones for Tenor Madness in Waterloo, Iowa.
